Pastor Tom, as he loves to be called, is a native of Tampa, Florida and has served our fellowship since November 1998. Educated at Hillsborough Community College, University of South Florida, Campbell University, Southeastern Seminary and Luther Rice Seminary, Pastor Tom has a passion for sharing God’s love in a simple and practical way. The Truth of God’s word is sufficient for living a joyful and abundant life.
A proponent of positive thinking, our pastor finds excitement and joy in leading our fellowship as we worship and live our faith in Jesus Christ. “All things are possible through Christ who strengthens us . . . “
Kerry M. Smith -Minister of Education and Youth

Kerry Smith began serving as the minister of Youth & Education at North Run in April 1999. Kerry is a graduate of Campbell University and Baptist Theological Seminary Richmond. Kerry and his wife Caroline have three children. The people of North Run have become family for this North Carolina native. The belief that God has a plan for each person and family has become a foundation for living life and serving our Lord here in Richmond.

Accepting Christ’s grace gift changed my life as a youth and has made a difference in every way, every day. I haven’t gotten over the power of His love which provides hope and strength. As worship leader, I love engaging in vibrant worship of God! Worshipping the Lord with the family at North Run Baptist Church is easy because of their demonstrated love for the Lord and for the surrounding community. As we walk in faith and courage into the future, every step we take can be filled with strength and purpose as we seek His Glory for His Kingdom.
Kim Shumate -Pre-Kindergarten Director

Kim Shumate is a graduate of Mary Washington College with a B.A. in Psychology and teacher certification in NK-4. Kim taught kindergarten for nine years in Henrico County before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She returned to the field of education as a teacher in 1998 at North Run Baptist PreK and became director in September 2000. Kim loves being a part of preschoolers’ first “school experience,” helping them learn and grow and sharing God’s love with them and their families.
Denise Hall – Ministry Assistant

Denise serves as Ministry Assistant to the Pastor, is a Notary Public, and holds an administrator certificate from the Baptist Board. Among her many administrative skills, Denise manages the daily business operations of the office, including serving as financial secretary, designing/creating the weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter, and maintaining the church calendar. Denise joined the staff in 2001 and enjoys greeting members and guests and working with the staff.
Mindy Varner serves as the church pianist.
Sonny Miller serves as the church custodian.
