Deacons
Partners in Ministry and Growth
It is understood that a Deacon shall fulfill the qualifications of the office as set forth in the New Testament. Deacons are ordained servants of the church. They are zealous to guard the unity of the spirit within the church in bonds of peace. Deacons serve as a council of advice and conference with the Pastor in all matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare and work of the church. With the Pastor, Deacons consider and formulate plans for the constant effort and progress of the church in all things pertaining to the salvation of souls, the development of Christians, and the extension and growth of the Kingdom of God.
Deacons establish and maintain personal relations with an inspiring oversight of all the membership of the church. Especially, they are to seek to know the physical needs of and the moral and spiritual struggles of the membership, and to serve the whole church in relieving, encouraging, and counseling all who are in need.
In order for the Deacon Body to fulfill its diversified ministry to the membership and community, it is organized into Deacon Ministry Teams, based on spiritual giftedness. The Biblical principals of servant-hood, spiritual giftedness, and team ministry, allow the Body to minister more effectively to the needs of the church and community.
