Benevolence Ministy Team

Deacons – Benevolence Ministry Team

We at North Run Baptist Church are a caring body of believers reaching out with love to help others in need.  We do this in many ways and one very important way is meeting the physical and economic needs through our benevolence love fund.  Assistance is provided to many every month through both financial gifts and food. These gifts are distributed confidentially by the Deacon Benevolence Team.  There is an envelope included in the boxed giving envelopes provided to all church members designated as “Love Fund”.  Will you prayerfully consider a financial gift over and above your regular tithes and offerings that we may continue this important ministry?  The apostle Paul spoke in Titus 3:14 saying, “And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.”

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,…”  Matthew 25:35 ESV

The Benevolence Team confidentially and non-judgmentally assesses and strives to meet the physical needs of people through available resources in a compassionate, comprehensive and organized manner.  The Team seeks to encourage and give hope of self-reliance to those in need and to assess and cultivate the opportunity for spiritual ministry.

PRAYER FOCUS:
Recognizing our inadequacy, the Team will pray for each other and those we serve.  We ask God to bless those with whom we come into contact, and, for the Team, we pray for the gift of mercy and God’s granting of discernment, wisdom and cheerful service.

ACTION FOCUS:
Because God cares for us, we too care for others and will assist in meeting the immediate basic human needs of food, water, gas (cooking or heating) and electricity.  Other survival needs may be considered depending on the significance and severity of the need.

EDUCATION FOCUS:
Needs typically result from catastrophic occurrences and/or weak life-management skills.   The Team will discover, organize and distribute information on available resources to strengthen life management skills.  This information will include directories of private and government  agencies, other churches and may include guidance or instruction in money management, parenting, job skills and other aspects of life, which if better managed may improve the quality of life now and in the future.
