Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders is a mentoring program begun by the Baptist General Association of Virginia, BGAV (Virginia Baptist) and adopted by North Run.  This mentoring program is designed to help youth and adults discover their spiritual gifts. North Run echoes the philosophy of  Virginia Baptist: All Christians have spiritual gifts given by God’s Holy Spirit ( based on 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12).

One of the primary goals of the Emerging Leaders program is to connect a young person with a more experienced Christian adult who can help nurture the young person’s faith.  A second component of the Emerging Leaders program is to enable Christian individuals the opportunity to utilize or “try out”  their spiritual gifts within a church setting in a leadership position. Again, this aspect of Emerging Leaders is where mentoring is key.  Ideally, Emerging Leaders is a program to help young people identify their spiritual gifts and mentor them to exercise these gifts within church. However, Emerging Leaders is not limited to youth. Many mature Christians may also be sensing a call from God or change of direction in their own lives. Emerging Leaders welcomes and invites all ages to come to a deeper understanding of how God may desire to work in your life.
